ROSEWOOD SCHLOSS FUSCHL APPOINTS SASCHA HEMMANN MANAGING DIRECTOR
March 2023. Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® is always looking for new and enchanting destinations with the aim of expanding further in Europe. That is why the ultra-luxury brand is pleased to announce the appointment of Sascha Hemmann as managing director of Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, which will be opening in the spring of 2024. Idyllically situated on the shores of turquoise blue Lake Fuschl near Salzburg and surrounded by mountains and forests, the resort will embrace Rosewood’s A Sense of Place® philosophy, immersing its guests in the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of the region. Sascha Hemmann’s experience and know-how in the hospitality industry will play an important role in the continuing success of this historic property.
With a distinguished career spanning almost 30 years, German-born Sascha Hemmann is very well acquainted with the Rosewood brand. His move to the Rosewood Schloss Fuschl team follows more than three years as managing director of Rosewood Bermuda. During his time there, Sascha Hemmann internalized every aspect of the brand’s A Sense of Place® philosophy, helping to maintain Rosewood Bermuda’s status as one of the top luxury resorts on the island. The skills he acquired during his time there will in the future make it possible for him to add even greater luster to the jewel Schloss Fuschl. Prior to joining the Rosewood hotel family, Sascha Hemmann served as general manager of the Nanuku Auberge Resort in Viti Levu, Fiji, the Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spa in Phuket and Koh Phangan, Thailand, and at Capella Hotels across the United States, China and Singapore, among others. He also held several management positions at hotels in the United Arab Emirates, the Caribbean, the Maldives, Brunei, the United Kingdom and Germany.
“Sascha’s appointment marks an important milestone in Rosewood Schloss Fuschl’s journey,” says Victor Clavell, Senior Vice President of Operations, EMEAC at Rosewood Hotel Group. “As we prepare to open the doors of this illustrious lakeside resort, his passion for creating exceptional guest experiences and his ability to infuse local culture into a resort will be crucial to putting the final touches on the hotel’s transformation. Thanks to Sascha’s extensive international experience, in combination with his innovative approach and his high standards of excellence, this prestigious resort undoubtedly has a glorious future ahead. We are very pleased to have him by our side.”
“We are extremely pleased to have gained such an accomplished and internationally experienced managing director for Rosewood Schloss Fuschl,” says Karl-Heinz Pawlizki, CEO of Arabella Hospitality SE. “Thanks to the expertise he has gained over the years, he will be able to give Schloss Fuschl a personal touch and position the hotel as a leading luxury resort that promises an unforgettable stay thanks to its unique location and outstanding service. It is one of our greatest wishes that we establish Schloss Fuschl as a second outstanding luxury hotel under the Rosewood brand, alongside Rosewood Munich, which we will be opening in fall 2023.”
Nestled in a magnificent landscape, Rosewood Schloss Fuschl is located not far from picturesque Salzburg, a city famous for its history, culture and music. The hotel looks back on a rich history and joins Rosewood Vienna in the collection of Rosewood hotels in Austria. The entire property will be modernized within the framework of the extensive renovation work that began in 2022. Future visitors will be able to choose from 98 beautifully appointed rooms, including 46 suites and six chalets. Rosewood Schloss Fuschl will also be home to superlative restaurants and lounges, as well as an Asaya spa, which embodies Rosewood’s integrative wellness concept and offers eight treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, and a fitness center.
First used as a hotel in 1954, Schloss Fuschl was originally built as a residence that served as a rural retreat for Austrian archbishops and high-ranking aristocrats, and its original structure dates back to 1450.
Throughout its eventful history, the resort has made a name for itself as an exquisite retreat for discerning travelers – from movie stars to foreign dignitaries. It’s striking silhouette has always been synonymous with timeless elegance.
Rosewood Schloss Fuschl is an important addition to the brand’s ever-growing collection of ultra-luxury hotels and resorts throughout Europe, including Rosewood London, Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel in Paris, Rosewood Villa Magna in Madrid, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany and Rosewood Munich, which will open at the end of 2023.
